- About Our Show -

   Hi and Welcome.

The production at Lopdell House is the inaugural show of our new theatre initiative.  Our plan is to delve into the history of the building taking from it stories that inspire the creation of a brand new theatrical work.

You can expect to see some unexpected moments in the play!  Characters from the past come to life in the sound mix or do they quite?  Physical theatre as well as spoken word are used to tell the story of Lopdell house's history to date.  Songs from the era give way to musical interludes that we hope will introduce you to our unique musical style.

The mode is theatre, but from a sound based perspective.  We are all practitioners that have experience in our own fields and are interested in creating interdisciplinary work that challenges us to experiment.
One of the chapters in the history of Lopdell house is about the School for the Deaf in the fifties.  We invite people who are deaf or hearing impaired to come and enjoy our show too.  While we are creating a sound-based piece, there is also a strong element of physical theatre and demonstrative technique.  As interdisciplinary artists we don't favour one over the other.

Genevieve has a particular interest in the building as her Grandmother lived in the hotel as a child during the thirties.  Conducting oral-histories is a part of the task of bringing a building to its reverberant heights in theatre.  This documentation is also made part of the show.

Afterwards, please feel free to join us for a chat.  We like to talk to our audiences afterward rather than disappear!  Besides you may have some stories that we haven't heard yet. . .
